Week 1 of the 2015-16 school sports year voting for the Preps Utah player of the week is in the books. As the week progressed, the folks in Heber City stepped up their game in the voting process, turning out in droves to vote for Wasatch High soccer star Torri Bills.
When all the votes were in, the Wasp goalkeeper had the support of 70 percent of the more than 1,100 people who voted. Skyline’s Holly Daugirda finished second with 15 percent and Olivia Wade of Davis captured 10 percent, with Kennedy Yost from Woods Cross and Stansbury’s Michaela Didericksen splitting the rest of the votes.
With nine shutouts in 14 games, Bills leads the state in that category as well as in total saves and goals-against average. She is a three-sport star at Wasatch, as one of the Wasps’ top basketball and softball players once soccer season comes to an end.
