Week 11 yielded a lower turnout of voters for the 2015-2016 PrepsUtah.com player of the week, but in the matchup of five girls basketball stars, one received the bulk of the tally. With nearly 500 votes recorded, Springville’s Lydia Austin came out as the overwhelming winner, claiming the honor for the week of Nov. 30 with 70 percent of the votes.
Bountiful two-sport star Kennedy Redding was second at 10 percent, while Madison Loftus (Bingham), Malli Valgardson (Pleasant Grove) and Shayla Draper (Union) split the remaining votes.
Austin opened the season with a 30-point performance against Timpview as she drained seven 3-pointers. Through the season’s first four contests, she is averaging 20 and five rebounds points a night, and she had connected on 16 shots from distance as the Red Devils have run out to a 4-0 start.
