More than 1,000 votes were cast for the 2015-2016 PrepsUtah.com player of the week, Week 12. It was a battle between five boys basketball stars, but after two pulled away from the pack, a strong finish left just one man standing at the top of the standings. The winner for the week of Dec. 7, with 65 percent of the vote, was Sky View’s high-scoring Jake Hendricks.
Brigham Bateman of Mountain View hung around until the final 48 hours of voting, finishing second with 30 percent, as Koby McEwen (Wasatch Academy), Zack Boudreaux (Skyline) and Taylor Marteliz (Kearns) split the remaining votes.
Hendricks dropped 41 points on Highland (Idaho) in the Bobcats season-opener, and through the team’s first six contests was averaging 20 points per game.
