Nearly 6,000 votes came in for our Week 20 PrepsUtah.com player of the week for the 2015-2016 school sports year. When the poll was concluded, a late run made Skyline High swimmer Adam Shelton the fan favorite for the week of Feb. 15, as he was chosen from among five state champion swimmers.

Shelton finished with just over 50 percent of the votes to hold off Viewmont’s Drew Bonner, who tallied 30 percent. Jinwon Bailar from Park City was third at nearly 15 percent, while Adam Edwards of Mountain Crest and Cottonwood’s Jonah Simon split the remaining votes.
Shelton won individual titles in the 100-yard butterfly and the 50-yard freestyle, and the senior was also part of 200 and 400-yard free relay championship teams. His Skyline team delivered big in the pool at BYU, winning both the 4A boys and girls team titles.
Each week, we select five new candidates for consideration by the followers of prep sports in the state of Utah as the Preps Utah athlete of the week. Readers vote online on our website at PrepsUtah.com and the winner is announced on Monday, when five new nominees are announced.
