As voting edged just above the 1,000 count in Week 25 of the PrepsUtah.com player of the week program for the 2015-16 school sports year, two baseball players pulled away from the other three. By the time voting closed for the week of March 21, Calvin Millich of Corner Canyon held on to win the fan vote by a close margin over Stansbury’s Clayton Stanworth.
Millich received more just over 53 percent of the votes for the week, while Stanworth came in at 43 percent. Josh Brown of Northridge, Riley Pierce from Salem Hills and Caden Prisbey of Enterprise split the remaining votes.
Millich is off to a hot start in the batter’s box for the Chargers, hitting .447 with 17 hits, 12 runs scored and 10 RBIs, with six extra-base hits. Corner Canyon is out to a 7-4 start as it heads into Region 7 play this week.
