Week 26 of the PrepsUtah.com player of the week program for the 2015-16 school sports year generated more than 5,000 total votes, but most of them headed south. The final tally for the week of March 21 provided a landslide win for Desert Hills High softball’s Brianna St. Clair.
St. Clair received the support from close to 83 percent of those who weighed in, while Sky View’s Takesha Saltern was second at 15 percent. Margie Glenn (Timpanogos), Cambrie Hazel (Spanish Fork) and Ashley Sweat (Wasatch) split the remaining votes.
The Desert Hills star is a two-way player for the Thunder. St. Clair leads the state in pitching wins with 11 and in batters struck out (116) and she has an ERA of 2.10 in more than 86 innings pitched so far this season. The sophomore is also batting .389 and is among the state leaders in triples with three.
