Beginning this week, PrepsUtah.com joins forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 1 2017 boys team coach of the week is George Murphy of the Park City High boys golf team. Murphy led the Miners to their ninth consecutive 3A state title in 2016, and so far this year, they appear poised to make a run at No. 10 in a row.
Realignment has placed Park City in Class 4A this year, along with most of the top contenders for previous 3A state titles, but some additional schools have remained in the 4A classification and some of them are known for the quality of their golf programs. Bonneville is one of those teams, and it is now competing with the Miners in Region 11. So far, Park City is out to a lead in the race for the region title.
Due to the accomplishments of his team over time and continuing into this season, George Murphy of Park City boys golf is the Week 1 selection as our boys team Anython Coach of the Week honor.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
