PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 2 2017 boys team coach of the week is Skyridge High football coach Jon Lehman. In its first year of existence, Lehman led the Skyridge football team to a winning record and play-in game for the state tournament. Year 2 brings a team that is unbeaten through five weeks and has taken another huge step forward.
Prior to taking the head coaching job at the brand new high school in Lehi, Lehman spent six years as the defensive coordinator at American Fork and he brought defense with him to Skyridge. While his 2017 team has allowed just 42 points through five contests, this Falcon team is also one of the most explosive offensive teams in the state, and that is a lethal combinaton.
Through five weeks, the Falcons has scored 2016 points, and in three of those games, they have scored 48, 52 and 60 points. Now in Region 8, after realignment, Skyridge heads into league play with perhaps a better path to the postseason than it had a year ago when its region foes included the likes of Timpview, Corner Canyon and Alta.
Due to the accomplishments of his team this season and the rapid rise of this brand-new program, Jon Lehman of Skyridge football is the Week 2 selection as our boys team Anython Coach of the Week honor.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to firstname.lastname@example.org.
