PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 5 2017 boys team coach of the week is Aaron Woodard of the Grand County High boys golf team. After claiming Class 2A state championships each of the last two years, this year’s team finished off a four-stroke win over Morgan to capture the UHSAA 3A title.
A trio of seniors, each of whom had been part of the prior two state championships, set the tone for Grand County as it recorded a 620 team score for the two-day event at Cove View Golf Course in Richfield. Masen Ward carded a second-day 71 to go with his opening-round 79 to win the individual title by one stroke of teammate Brendon Woodard, who shot a two-day total of 151. Alec Williams was fifth on the final leaderboard.
Leading his team to this state title makes Coach Woodard our honoree for the week of Oct. 2, 2017, the Week 5 selection for our boys team Anython Coach of the Week honor.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
