PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 6 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Jenny Watts of the Olympus High girls tennis team. In her first year leading the Titan program, Watts headed up a Class 5A state championship team as Olympus held off Timpview 20-14 to win its fourth consecutive state championship.
The Titans got it done with depth, claiming the team title with the benefit of just one individual state champion. Senior Elly Lloyd netted the state championship in second singles, while junior Emma Jewell was second in No. 1 singles and junior Kate Longson took second in No. 3 singles. A pair of freshmen, Anzle Stohl and Megan Jewell, also claimed the second position in first doubles.
Leading her team to this state title makes Coach Watts our honoree for the week of Oct. 9, 2017, the Week 6 selection for our girls team Anython Coach of the Week honor.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
