PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 8 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Sharron Wood of the Sky View High girls soccer team. After relocating to Class 4A, Wood and the Bobcats rolled to the first girls soccer title in school history, finishing the season with a 15-2-2 record, 10-0 in Region 12.
After three impressive wins – 8-0 over Lehi, 4-1 over Park City and 5-0 over Ogden – Sky View used a late first-half goal from Samantha Tippets and a little second-half insurance from junior forward Sidney Barlow to hold off Bonneville 2-0 in the state championship match. Senior goalkeeper Kelsea Cracroft was a star all year long and particularly during the postseason run, while senior forward Kylee Griffin delivered a Class 4A MVP season for the Bobcats.
Sky View’s special championship season earns Coach Wood our honor for the week of Oct. 23, 2017, the Week 8 selection for our girls team Anython Coach of the Week.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
