PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 11 2017-2018 boys team coach of the week is Mike Grajek of the South Summit High football team. Grajek, who previously won a state title when coaching at Milford in 1993, led Wildcats to a 38-10 win over Beaver to clinch the UHSAA Class 2A football championship.
South Summit, which finished the year 12-0, was never really tested on its run to the state title, as it followed a first-round bye with a 40-12 win over San Juan and a 47-9 victory over Grand County to reach the finale against Beaver. Jared Dansie, Kael Atkinson and Keegan Stracher led the Wildcat offense, as Stracher and Braxton Crystal powered the team on the defensive side.
That state championship run makes Coach Grajek our Anython boys team Coach of the Week for the week of Nov. 13, 2017.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
