PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 11 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Kristine Harding of the Box Elder High volleyball team. The Bees were swept twice by two-time defending state champion Bountiful during the Region 5 regular season and when they arrived at the UHSAA Class 5A championship match, there were the Braves on the other side of the net.
Harding’s Box Elder squad swept Timpview to open the 2017 state tournament, and after beating Skyridge 3-1, the Bees swept Woods Cross to reach the finale. The third shot at Bountiful proved to be a charm as Box Elder won a five-set classic 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-8. When Andreanna McKee delivered the final kill, it clinched Box Elder’s first state title since 1996.
That memorable state championship run makes Coach Harding our Anython girls team Coach of the Week for the week of Nov. 13, 2017.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to firstname.lastname@example.org.
