Anython Coach of the Week

Anython girls team coach of Week 12-Joe Pereira, Skyline swimming

PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.

Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.

Our Week 12 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Joe Pereira of the Skyline High girls swimming team. Pereira is one of the most decorated coaches in Utah high school swimming and his 2017-2018 team is strong again. The Skyline head coach has led his girls team to 10 total state championships, including the last six in a row.

The bonus with Pereira is that he has also won 10 boys state titles, three straight at Cyprus from 2000 to 2002, and seven at Skyline, including a current four-year streak.

The 2017-2018 Eagle girls feature seniors Sarah Fillerup and Aleah Griffin as well as double state champion from a year ago, junior Becca Goodson. Sophomore Caroline Luman is a new face at Skyline, with strong early performances in the individual medley and 500-yard freestyle.

The continuing impressive performance of his team at Skyline makes Coach Pereira our Anython girls team Coach of the Week for the weeks of Nov. 20 and Nov. 27, 2017.

Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to kurt@prepsutah.com.
