PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 22 2017-2018 boys team coach of the week is Todd Etherington of the Brighton High swimming team. Etherington’s Bengals won his seventh boys state championship in 2018 (He won six straight between 2009 and 2014). Coach Etherington has also led the Brighton girls team to four state titles.
This year’s Bengal boys captured the Class 5A banner by holding off Cottonwood due to their strong showings in the relays. Brighton won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Seniors Jack Binder and Chase Miyagishima led both relay teams, and that duo went 1-2 individually in the 100-yard butterfly. Binder was also second in the 100 breaststroke.
Yet another state championship result for the Bengals makes Etherington our Anython boys team Coach of the Week for the week of Feb. 19, 2018.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
