PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 27 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Don Andrews of the Spanish Fork High softball team. Coming into the season having won the last three Class 4A state championships, but having to reload the roster for the current campaign, Andrews and the Dons have not missed a beat early.
Led by the pitching of Jordin Bate, who also, along with Brylee Rudd gives Andrews perhaps the state’s best 1-2 power-hitting duo, Spanish Fork has rolled to an 8-1 start. For Andrews, the last three titles brings his total number of state championships at Spanish Fork to six and he appears to have the kind of team that can make it four in a row…and seven this year.
Another strong start makes Andrews our Anython girls team Coach of the Week for the week of March 26, 2018.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to firstname.lastname@example.org.
