PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 28 2017-2018 boys team coach of the week is Ryan Mitchell of the Herriman High soccer team. After losing the 5A state championship game to Layton in a penalty kick shootout last season, Herriman is back this year and Mitchell has their sights on getting the banner in 2018.
JD Myers has five shutouts between the posts so far as the Mustangs are off to a 9-0 start (5-0 in Region 3 play). After a 15-2-3 finish a year ago, Carter Johnson (11 goals), Hayden Christensen (9 goals) and Kolton Johnson (5 goals) are pacing an attack that puts Herriman in a good place to better last year’s finish.
That early success makes Mitchell our Anython boys team Coach of the Week for the week of April 9, 2018.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to email@example.com.
