PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.
Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.
Our Week 28 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Marissa Lowry of the Tooele High softball team. The Buffaloes finished fourth in Class 3A a year ago, after taking third in 2016, and Lowry has this year’s team out to a fantastic start as it looks to win a Region 11 championship and make an even deeper run at the state tournament.
Paced by pitcher Attlyn Johnston and the bats of Madi Baker, Blake Hervet and Amber Lujan, Tooele has outscored its opponents 141-34 over 12 contests. That has been good enough for a 5-0 start in league play and 12-0 overall.
The fast start by Lowry and the Buffaloes makes her our Anython girls team Coach of the Week for the week of April 9, 2018.
Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to firstname.lastname@example.org.
