Anython Coach of the Week

Anython girls team coach of Week 30-Jackie Wong-Carnesecca, Maple Mountain

PrepsUtah.com has joined forces with Anython to announce this year’s coach of the week honorees. Each week during this school year, we select a boys team and a girls team coach who represents the best the state has to offer in coaching excellence.

Anython, a unique company helping teams and groups raise money to run their programs, is the sponsor of this award. The company will present to each weekly winner a certificate and a coach of the week water bottle and will provide the teams at the winners’ schools a special offer to utilize the fundraising services it provides.

Our Week 30 2017-2018 girls team coach of the week is Jackie Wong-Carnesecca of the Maple Mountain High softball team. In recent weeks, the Golden Eagles have elevated their offensive production to a whole new level, scoring 17, 15, 20 and 10 runs in four of the seven games on their current winning streak.

Carnesecca’s club also includes an eight-inning 4-3 win over rival Springville in that sequence of victories. At 5-0, Maple Mountain leads Region 8 with a 5-0 record and it is off to a 12-4-1 start to the campaign overall. A year ago, the Golden Eagles finished 12-14 coming off a 2016 season that saw them reach the  4A state title game.

Now, paced by sophomore Justyce Strasburg (.466, 10 HRs, 28 RBI), senior Mickie Mills (.542, 10 doubles, 6 HRs) and Madalyn Argyle,  Carnesecca has her team looking to position itself for another deep tournament run. Carbon That makes her our Anython girls team Coach of the Week for the week of April 23, 2018.

Nominate a deserving coach for one of our weekly honors by sending an email with the name, school and sport of the coach and the reason we should honor him or her to kurt@prepsutah.com.
