The KJZZ Cups are the Preps Utah all-sports awards, presented to schools in different regions of the state who excel in all sports throughout the school sports year. Our KJZZ Cup all-sports award program divides our primary coverage area into three zones, each with its own Cup – Northern, Salt Lake and Utah Valley.
The zones include all 3A, 4A and 5A schools within a geographic area as follows. The Northern zone includes the schools in those classifications in Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan and Weber counties; the Salt Lake zone includes schools in Salt Lake and Summit counties; the Utah Valley zone covers Utah County and Wasatch County.
KJZZ Cup Points System
The KJZZ Cups are awarded to the 3A, 4A or 5A schools that earn the most points in competition, as compared to the other schools in their zone, regardless of classification, over the course of the school year (based on team results). Points are awarded for the following accomplishments:
State title = 20 points
State runner-up = 15 points
Region champion = 10 points
Region runner-up = 7 points
